It's time to address the damn elephant in the room

Kent, I get that the rebuild isn't over. Most of us understand we still need to be patient. We clearly see that we are on the right track.

BUT YOU CANNOT TURN A BLIND EYE TO THE ELEPHANT IN THE DAMN ROOM!

We've been waiting for almost 3 decades for a center line that is respectable, that is competitive. Heck one we won't be embarassed about!

Look, we're not expecting to be the 1996 Avalanche (with Sakic, Forsberg and Ricci as their top centers), but must we look like the pitiful 2017 Canadiens (sorry Suzy, excluding you of course) with centers like Tory Mitchell, Bryan Flynn and Steve f'n Ott! (I think Michael McCarron played a few games there too that season....yayks!)

Can we stop with the never-ending science experiments, the failed projects (Dach, Newhook, now potentially trying a winger like Bolduc in the spot!) and try HARD to acquire a 2 C (heck we need a 3 C too but at this point, beggars can't be choosers). We are arguably the weakest team in the damn league at this position! And, I know, you will tell as at the annual golf tournament in September, that "Rome wasn't built in a day", it's "not an easy position to fill", we don't "need to check off all the boxes in one summer" and yadda yadda enchilada!

But, seriously, Hugo, it's not like there AREN'T any options available. Are they Nathan Mackinnon or Mario Lemieux? Of course not. But no one can tell me that players like Nazem Kadri, Marco Rossi, Mason McTavish (even heard Mattyb Beniers' name), aren't better than what options we currently have. Heck, as a stopgap I would even "settle" for Ryan O'Reilly...

And YES, I get that it will cost us a mint! But we CANNOT have success if we do NOT address such a vital position. We CANNOT have players who either are not healthy enough (Dach), cannot win faceoffs (Dach Dach Goose...), lack offensive vision (sorry to Alex Newhook) as our potential 2 C. Not when the "joyau" (gem) of the franchise (Demidov) will be playing wing on that second line!

Let's be honest, to acquire a player who can fill this vacant spot it will very likely mean sacrificing a Michael Hage, a Reinbacher PLUS perhaps a roster player (Newhook? Struble?). But, so what.

We have depth at D. More than we've had in years. And Reinbacher had concerns with his knee before he even got injured in that exhibition game versus Toronto last year. He seemed to have lingering symptoms when he came back. We have our Big 3 on the back end set for years in Hutson, Dobson and Guehle (I think Engstrom will be a pleasant surprise as well).

At this point it's not just an elephant sitting in the living room, it's the entire African contingent of the zoo, that has taken over the house (cue in Jumanji).

Kent, please, for the love of God, save our season. We can't afford to take a step back. Fans are excited. We've had trust issues with management for decades, and are beginning to believe again. Faith has mostly been restored. Players are committed and they clearly want to take that next step. Don't stay idle!

Bust. A. Move.
